Nitrates in Tobacco
Total oxidised nitrogen, nitrite (NO2-), and nitrate (NO3-), can be determined with OPSIS LiquidLINE instruments. Determination is done in two steps, first to determine free and fixed ammonia, and second step with Devarda’s Alloy.
Extraction from Tobacco to determine Alkaloids
Determination of nicotine components is important in tobacco production. A solvent AOAC-modified extraction method can be used to extract alkaloids from tobacco. Alkaloid components can thereafter be measured with gas chromatography.
